When I was getting my degree in Forensic Toxicology, I started paying attention to the ingredients in products (and could now understand the long scientific words). I stopped using most of the products. I also would share the knowledge with friends and family. But I kept getting the same question: "What products am I supposed to use instead?" I honestly did not have a brand I felt comfortable recommending. That's when it hit me:
"Tamykah, you are a scientist! Who better to make non-toxic products than a Toxicologist"
It was in that moment that Xanthines All Natural Products was birthed. A brand that families could trust to provide them with safe, effective, affordable non-toxic products for the Home, Bath & Body and Hair.
When I became a scientist, it bothered me greatly that Black and Brown scientists like myself were underrepresented. I created Xanthines Cafe to teach science to children in innovative ways that help foster a love of science, but to also introduce them to various science careers. Under Xanthines Cafe, is CAMP WAKANDA which is a Spring and Summer Break STEAM camp that teaches Black and Brown children about their innate superpowers through Science, Technology, Engineering/Entrepreneurship, Art & Math.
